Rainforest Adventure a Family Affair

Playa Nicuesa Serves Up a Tropical Land and Sea Package

Golfo Dulce – Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica – Family trip planning can be an adventure in itself.  An eco-adventure in Costa Rica is cutting a swath through the jungle of options available, emerging with a multi-sport assortment that‘s got you covered from surf to turf.

Dad wants to snorkel or go fishing, mom wants to kayak up a rainforest-lined fjord, one child wants to play with giant bugs and go fishing, and the other wants to see sea turtles and monkeys. Sound familiar?  Playa Nicuesa Lodge’s new Tierra Y Mar Family Adventure Package has something to keep everyone occupied and smiling by offering two natural adventure playgrounds in one location.

“We have watched and listened closely for the last five years to what families like and need,” says Michael Butler, owner of Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. “We’ve created the Tierra Y Mar Family Adventure just for them – it’s great for families with children from age 6 right to young adults.”

Nature’s Classroom

The 4-7 day packages include a four-hour hike to a waterfall in the heart of the rainforest, a two-hour inshore fishing tour, kayak and snorkel tours, and a nocturnal rainforest hikes. There are also special educational tours which include touring the gardens, learning about sustainability and environmental initiatives followed by Playa Nicuesa.

There are also presentations geared to a broader understanding of the coexistence of the flora, fauna and animal life of the Osa Peninsula and conservation efforts to preserve this magnificent ecosystem. Also included is a choice of the Golfo Dulce Boat and Dolphin Tour or the Esquinas River Jungle Tour. All tours are led by local naturalist guides.

The lodge’s five cabins including two deluxe family cabins offer comfort and privacy for families. The Mango Guesthouse, with four rooms, is suitable for large groups and extended families.

“Your family will have a rustic adventure without roughing it,” said Butler. “The hub of activity is our lodge, where offer unique and very comfortable upscale accommodations. And with our fresh and delicious meals and snacks made by our chefs, you’ll eat like the king of the jungle.”

Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is an environmentally sensitive multi-sport lodge set on a 165-acre private reserve in the undeveloped Pacific Coast of southern Costa Rica. The Lodge embraces conservation in harmony with the natural environment and caters to travelers interested in enjoying ecotourism, nature, adventure and sports. Tours and activities are conducted in the most safe and respectful manner possible.

The Osa Peninsula-Golfo Dulce Region contains approximately 2.5 per cent of the planet’s biodiversity. It is surrounded by the last remaining intact lowland tropical rainforest in Costa Rica. The gulf, one of only four tropical fjords in the world, is the 10th deepest in the world. It offers some of the finest fishing you’ll find, sandy beaches and calm, warm water for excellent swimming, fishing, kayaking, and snorkeling.
