High Stakes for Amateur Shutterbugs

Rejoice, amateur photographers and enthusiasts. Small Luxury Hotels of the World is running its Inaugural Worldwide Photography Competition so you can share your most inspired moments and experiences “caught on film” (or pixels) during your travels. Whether they’re images of a bike ride through the Tuscan hills, a glowing pink sunset over a private beach in the Maldives or simply a historic monument in Europe or Yellowstone, the possibilities are limitless and welcome.

If you’re one of the top four winners, you’ll get a 10.2 megapixel Nikon D80 and a big zoom lens plus a four-night to six night (with roundtrip air for two) vacation in Costa Rica or London or Riviera Maya or New York City.

From the SLH photo contest website - just a hint of what they're looking for from amateur shooters.

The contest takes place completely online via a dedicated website www.slhphotocontest.com, now through July 31, 2008. Register on the site and upload up to 10 of your favorite, most awesome (in your own opinion, of course) photographs that capture a sense of place and experience. All submitted photos will be viewable in an online gallery where everyone can admire the shooters’ work and travel adventures (hopefully, sans jealousie).

Four overall winning photographs will be chosen by a panel of judges including celebrity photographer Andy Earl. (Earl has photographed Madonna, Prince and Pink Floyd for their album covers and it was his imaginative eye that led SLH to ask him to adopt a fresh, creative look at hotel marketing through photography.) In addition to the four top prize winners, anybody who registers and submits at least one photo will be entered automatically in a drawing for a five-night stay at any of the more than 440 Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties in over 70 countries.

The four top prize winners will all receive a brand new Nikon D80 SLR 10.2 Camera with an 18-135mm zoom lens, plus, choose in ranking order from first place to fourth place, one of four getaways including two round-trip tickets on American Airlines. The available prize packages are:
