General Tours World Traveler's New Escorted Tour
Showcases the Rich Diversity of Israel - As the Nation Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

Keene, NH – April 3, 2008 – As Israel marks its 60th Anniversary, General Tours World Traveler has introduced a new escorted tour that showcases the country’s remarkable diversity and rich cultural heritage. “Israel is well-known for its great wealth of important ancient and religious sites,” notes Bob Drumm, President of General Tours, “and traditional itineraries focus, sometimes quite narrowly, on what most tourists expect to see.”

With its new Life in Israel tour, the company aims to expand the market with a new approach. “We want to show our travelers the important historic sites,” states Mr. Drumm, “and also help them to discover the unexpected pleasures of contemporary Israel.”

Life in Israel – From ancient sites to picturesque wineries
This 8-day trip delves into both ancient past and recent history, from the Herodian ruins of Caesarea and Massada to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and a jeep ride along the Jerusalem Corridor, an important supply route during the War of Independence.

Israel’s cultural heritage and modern spirit are brought to life with uniquely-planned excursions that include Tel Aviv’s Rokach Museum, in the home of one of the city’s founding families and now a gallery of contemporary sculpture. Later that evening, travelers join their guide for a night on the town, starting with dinner at Maganda – a favorite with city residents - and continuing in the lively Old Port of Tel Aviv. In the Golan Heights, General Tours clients visit a winery and learn about olive oil production at a nearby mill before meeting an Israeli family crafting beautiful shofars, a delicate musical instrument with ancient roots.

The tour concludes with 3 nights in Jerusalem, where clients enjoy two days of in-depth sightseeing. On the final afternoon, clients can personalize their trip based upon their own interests, visiting an artisanal cheese farm or traveling to Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity.

Intimate, small-group touring…
Life in Israel is one of General Tours’ signature small-group escorted tours, with each guaranteed departure limited to no more than 20 guests. The trip is priced from $2,749 and includes a choice of superior first class or deluxe hotels, 14 meals, comprehensive sightseeing, and all on-tour transportation.

The company’s extensive Middle East offerings include other small-group escorted tours, like The Christian Pilgrim, Ancient Pathways to Petra, and Grand Capitals of the Middle East.

General Tours World Traveler is an AARP Travel partner and members save $210 per couple on all of the company’s small-group escorted tours.
