Close Encounters
Irving Penn Portraits of Artists and Writers

Through April 13, 2008

Close Encounters showcases a group of sixty-seven portraits of notable subjects by Irving Penn (b. 1917), acquired by The Morgan Library & Museum in 2007.

This exhibition is made possible by a generous gift from Richard and Ronay Menschel.

Michelangelo, Vasari, and Their Contemporaries: Drawings from the Uffizi
Through April 20, 2008

This exhibition presents a survey of Florentine draftsmanship of the sixteenth century from Michelangelo and Pontormo to Vasari and the mannerists such as Bronzino and Allori.

This exhibition is made possible by The Alice Tully Foundation, with major support from the Estate of Alex Gordon. CastleRock Asset Management is corporate sponsor. Additional assistance is provided by the Joseph F. McCrindle Foundation and the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

Draftsmen of the Medici Court

As a complement to its current exhibition Michelangelo, Vasari, and Their Contemporaries: Drawings from the Uffizi, The Morgan Library & Museum presents from its rich permanent collection a select group of related works by artists at the court of Duke Cosimo I dei Medici (1519–1574).

Livre de la chasse thumbnail Illuminating the Medieval Hunt

This exhibition features miniatures from the celebrated fifteenth-century manuscript Le Livre de la chasse. In addition, about two dozen manuscripts and printed books are also on display.

Guston thumbnail Philip Guston: Works on Paper

The Morgan Library & Museum presents the first retrospective of Philip Guston's (1913–1980) drawings in twenty years.

This exhibition is organized by the KunstMuseum Bonn and the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, Munich.
The presentation of the exhibition at the Morgan is made possible with the generous support of Musa and Tom Mayer, the Singer Family Foundation, and Renee and David McKee, with additional assistance from Monina von Opel and Edward Miller.

For the first time in more than a decade, The Morgan Library & Museum presents all three of its Gutenberg Bibles, the largest number of copies in any single collection.

The George London Foundation Awards Finals Competition
The George London Foundation Awards competition is one of the oldest vocal competitions in the United States and Canada, offering among the most substantial awards. Through the annual juried competition for outstanding young North American opera singers more than $55,000 is awarded to the most promising performers. Tickets to the event are free, but reservations are required.
