FORT LAUDERDALE (March 27, 2008) --  Destination specialist Voyages of Discovery is offering free air on selected Antarctica expedition cruises aboard the mv Discovery, together with Early Booking Savings up to 35% and optional land programs to Iguaçu Falls, the Glaciers of Patagonia and Cape Town, South Africa.

Free-to-$199 Air from selected gateways is available on the Nov. 13, 2008, “Voyage to Antarctica” cruise and on the Dec. 3, 2008, “Antarctica and the Falkland Islands” sailing. Free air gateways include Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York and Toronto.  San Francisco and Seattle are among the line’s $99 gateways; the Vancouver add-on is $199.

The Free-to-$199 air offer, along with 2-for-1 fares, also are available on the mv Discovery’s 24-night transatlantic cruisetour departing Nov. 13, 2008, from Lisbon to Buenos Aires (from $6,995 first passenger; second passenger pays $295 port charges).

Passengers take part in landings ashore and Zodiac cruises of scenic areas where landings are not permitted. Discovery’s 14-member expedition team is headed by Dr. Peter Carey, founder of the Sub-Antarctic Foundation for Ecosystems Research.  A zoologist and veteran of 70 voyages to Antarctica, Dr. Carey leads a team of six research scientists and academics in the fields of biology, glaciology, ornithology and environmental physiology that lecture on board (and serve as “penguin police” during landings ashore).

Carey’s team also includes an Ice Master and six Zodiac drivers.

Optional pre- and post-cruise programs include tours to Iguaçu Falls, from $1,495 per-person; Patagonia Glaciers, from $1,298; and Cape Town, from $795.

Passenger photos and journals from previous cruises to Antarctica are showcased on the line’s www.antarcticadiscovery.com website.  (The site has been short-listed in the category ‘Best Use of Social Media’ in the Travolution Awards for 2008, the only U.K. awards dedicated to the online travel market.)
