This summer, Regent Seven Seas Cruises is inviting its guests to join two of the country’s hottest celebrity chefs as they conduct demonstrations, lead food shopping excursions to local markets, and teach guests to prepare their signature cuisine, all in an atmosphere of luxury.

Guests traveling aboard all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Voyager this summer can participate in a “Spotlight on Food and Wine” enrichment program featuring Cathal Armstrong, owner of Virginia’s Restaurant Eve. Guests will learn the secrets of gourmet food and wine as they sip sherry in its native Cadiz, celebrate port in Portugal, and salute the cuisines of France and Spain.

Chef Michel Richard of Washington, D.C. is owner of hotspots Citronelle and Central Michel Richard. Featured in the April 2008 issue of Food + Wine, Richard was recently recognized by The New York Times for Central Michel Richard, one of 10 American “restaurants that count.” This summer, Richard will host a “Spotlight on Food and Wine” enrichment program from Seward to Vancouver, B.C. aboard Seven Seas Mariner. NASA moonwalkers aboard 2009 Grand Circumnavigation World Cruise
Regent Seven Seas Cruises will offer guests a rare opportunity to travel with two of only 12 individuals to ever have walked the surface of the moon, National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) astronauts Charles Duke and Edgar Mitchell. These genuine American heroes will be the featured guests aboard Seven Seas Voyager’s April 18 to May 8, 2009 Istanbul-to-Fort Lauderdale voyage, the final segment of the ship’s 116-night Grand Circumnavigation World Cruise.

“We went to the moon as technicians, we returned humanitarians,” said Dr. Mitchell, who served as lunar module pilot for the 1971 Apollo 14 mission during which he became the sixth man to walk on the moon. A scientist, naval officer, astronaut, entrepreneur, author and lecturer, Dr. Mitchell is a member of the Astronaut Hall of Fame and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. Dr. Mitchell also founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences, dedicated to seeking new understanding of the human condition resulting from space exploration.

Charles Duke was lunar module pilot for Apollo 16, the first expedition to survey the moon’s rugged Descartes region. In 1972, he became the 10th and youngest man ever to walk the surface of the moon, performing his mission with great enthusiasm and humor. He has been delighting audiences ever since as a motivational speaker and author of the book Moonwalker. Dr. Duke is a recipient of the NASA Distinguished Service Medal.
