FOUR SEASONS SAFARI LODGE, SERENGETI WELCOMES IN RESIDENCE

09-22-2014

SERENGETI – (September 22, 2014) -- With the Photographer in Residence program in full swing, Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti is pleased to welcome Rick Collins, acclaimed wildlife photographer, to the Lodge this fall and winter.

Rick, who will be in residence from November 1, 2014 – January 29, 2015, will be trading his time as a grizzly bear guide for budding photographers in remote Alaska to take over as Photographer in Residence at the Lodge.

With a background in film and television, Rick worked in the Australian film industry as a script editor and screenwriter for 17 years before working for Norwegian Cruise Lines as a project manager. He later worked with the Moscow Circus as Animal Rights Liaison, traveling in a circus train across Siberia.

During his time at Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti, Rick will accompany guests on their safari, inspiring and guiding them in their photographic adventures while offering professional hints and tips on how to capture the action to a professional standard.

Back at the Discovery Centre, the first lodge-based conservation research and education platform in the Serengeti, Rick will work with guests, critiquing the results while offering editing and post-production advice to ensure flawless results.

In addition, guests can attend a series of slide shows and talks at the Discovery Centre during Rick’s residence with the option of one-on-one workshops to further their photography knowledge. The photographer in residence program is the first initiative from the Discovery Centre, which sees a recurring series of experts visit the Lodge to share their expertise on local wildlife and culture, offering guests the chance to learn different skills during their stay.

Rick is the fourth specialist to join the Lodge as Photographer in Residence, following on from fellow acclaimed wildlife photographers Will Burrard-Lucas, Nick Garbutt and Paul Joyson Hicks.
