Bali, Indonesia – (July 14, 2014): Executive Chef by day, secret surf aficionado by – well – whenever he’s not in his whites! Such is the enviable lifestyle of Executive Chef Greg Bunt at Four Seasons Resorts Bali at Jimbaran Bay. The wave-catching culinarian has officially elevated his status to ‘Surfing Chef’ with an invitation to cook with – and surf alongside – some of the hottest names in the surf world at the Surfing Champions Trophy 2014 held atFour Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa August 4 – 11, 2014.

In addition to showcasing his culinary prowess with a full menu of dishes to nourish the competition’s iconic competitors, Chef Greg will also take to the waves with his heroes in his downtime; after all, what else is a Surfing Chef to do? Surf has been a huge part of Chef Greg’s life since he was a boy growing up in Australia. With responsibility for Four Seasons Resorts Bali at Jimbaran Bay’s four dining venues, he rises at 5am four times a week, paddling out to a line up with sea turtles and the sun rising behind Mount Agung.

“With access to some of the best waves and freshest seafood in the world, I didn’t think my job could get any better,” Chef Greg comments, “But to have this chance to visit the Maldives to cook for and surf with the icons who have inspired me all these years really takes things up a notch. It’s going to redefine epic.”

Now in its fourth year, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy is coined “the world’s most luxurious surfing event”. Organized in partnership with the Resort’s in-resident luxury surf pioneers, Tropicsurf, and hosted onboard Four Seasons Explorer – the country’s ultimate surf vessel – the boutique, invitation-only contest sees six surf icons battle it out across three evolutionary disciplines on the Maldives’ world-class waves.

“It’s an intimacy that you don’t usually experience – as a competitor or a spectator,” explains Event Coordinator, Mark Winson of Tropicsurf. “To have Chef Greg on board – both on land and at sea – just enhances the sense of bonding and interaction that the event has gained a reputation for.”

“Cooking for 100 people in two hours gives me the same kind of rush as screaming down the line on a six foot right hander,” says the effervescent Chef. “I am very much looking forward to getting over to the Maldives to hook into some waves and more island seafood. It’s always lovely to experience a new place to cook; you always take away new ideas and leave a few behind. I am thinking spiced ceviches, quick searing, and smoking some dishes. But that may all change when out in the surf tomorrow waiting for sets ...”

Surf fans can book the all-inclusive Group Surf & Stay (available from August 4 to 11 for a minimum booking of four rooms for five or seven nights). In addition to competition day passes, full board and transfers, Group Surf & Stay includes five or seven days of intense surfing with Tropicsurf’s expert guides, plus the chance to rub shoulders with Surfing Champions contestants at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.
