New York - April 2, 2014: Tens of thousands of runners from more than 50 countries arrived in Israel last week to participate in the fourth annual Jerusalem International Marathon. First to finish the marathon from the men's division was Kenya runner Ronald Kimeli Kurgat, who set a new marathon record with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 08 seconds; and from the Women's Division, Ethiopian runner Alemtsehay Mesfin Demse completed the marathon at a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes and 23 seconds.

"The Jerusalem Marathon is one of Israel's most unique and challenging fitness competitions," said Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. "We are excited for next year's marathon which we hope will attract return and first-time visitors to arrive in Israel to compete through the hills and holiness that are unique to Jerusalem."
