Maine Family Vacation Camp to Hold "Peanut and Tree Nut Allergy" Friendly Week

02-27-2014

To be of service to families that want to travel, but are normally hesitant to do so due to peanut and tree-nut allergies, Medomak Family Camp in Washington, Maine, is beginning their season with a "nut allergy friendly week," June 22-28, 2014.

Washington, Maine (February 26, 2014) - Travel and outings for families with members who suffer from life-threatening allergies can be so anxiety-ridden, and just plain difficult, that many opt not to travel at all or are severely limited in what they feel comfortable doing.  This is especially the case when the person with the allergy is a younger child.  Simple events as going to a restaurant can be stressful, with all the questions for the kitchen about ingredients and cross contamination, and the underlying fear of whether the staff will be as diligent as you are.

Many things that people without these kinds of allergies can easily do are often off-limits to people with nut allergies.  Think baseball stadiums and the long held tradition of 'peanuts and crackerjack'.  Family vacations can often be a similar situation.

To be of service to families that want to travel, but are normally hesitant to do so due to peanut and tree-nut allergies, Medomak Family Camp in Washington, Maine, is beginning their season with a "nut allergy friendly week," June 22-28, 2014. They are taking measures to ensure that the kitchen and dining facilities are completely free from nut allergies.  Since this will be their first week, the facility is already cleaned from last season, and will be cleaned again upon opening. There won't be any contaminants, as all food will be nut-free and not processed in facilities that process nuts.  Additionally, there will be a nurse on-site.  Families can hopefully truly relax without the constant fear of allergen exposure.  You can see the description of the efforts they are taking here: www.medomakcamp.com/nutallergyweek.php

Weekly Rates: Adult: $895, Children 5-12: $740,  Children 2-4: $635. Average family of four's tuition $3165. Rates are all-inclusive: food (including lobster dinner), lodging, activities, equipment and linens and towels.

Medomak Family Camp is a fun and relaxing, all-inclusive family vacation.  Families travel from all over the country to attend.  Family Camp gives the entire family the opportunity to experience all of the joys of a traditional summer camp experience in a comfortable setting that appeals to kids and parents alike.

Family Camp is one of the fastest growing segments in the camp industry. This alternative vacation choice gives over-scheduled families a chance to slow down, unwind, reconnect and try something new. Medomak Camp, located in the mid-coast region of Maine, is one of the original Family Camps and is a leader in this industry. Medomak has been in the camp business for over a century and for the last two decades has dedicated their eight week summer season exclusively to Family Camp. In fact, they are the only full-season and secular family camp to be accredited by the American Camp Association.
