TourCrafters Introduces “Slow Food” Gourmet Tour of Tuscany

11-19-2013

Libertyville, IL, November 19, 2013—The Slow Food Movement, which started in Italy as an antidote to fast food (and McDonald’s), aims to rediscover the flavors of regional cooking and to take pleasure in cooking, eating and sharing meals. TourCrafters’ Slow Food Gourmet Tuscany tour provides daily opportunities to do just that, with a cooking lesson, several wine and cheese tastings and convivial meals based on the traditional dishes of Tuscany. The tour was designed in partnership with Slow Food Italy. All restaurants, wineries, farms and artisans visited on this tour have been approved by the Italian Slow Food Presidia..

The land-only escorted tour, which has several departure dates next spring, summer and fall, costs $2,600 and includes seven nights’ accommodation in 4-star hotels, daily buffet breakfast, seven other meals with regional wines, four tastings of Slow Food Tuscan wines, guided half day tours of Florence and Siena, some entrance fees, baggage handling, a professional tour director, licensed local guides, and  travel in state-of-the-art luxury motor coaches.

The tour starts and ends in Rome, and along the way tour participants will enjoy  views of hillsides covered with the vineyards and olive groves so typical of the Tuscan landscape, visit bustling market towns like Greve in Chianti, experience wine and art cities like Montalcino (famous for the production of Brunello),  see the medieval town of Montepulciano and the Renaissance city of Pienza and, of course, tour Florence, Siena and the Umbrian city of Orvieto.

The centrally-located  hotel in Rome, the Independent, is sleek and modern and features hypoallergenic mattresses, a “pillow menu,” Nespresso coffee makers and a rooftop garden.  The Hotel Villa Il Pilagio boasts a swimming pool and acres of garden in Rignano sull’Arno, not far from Florence in the beautiful  countryside of Tuscany.

All prices quoted are per person, double occupancy and are subject to availability. Prices do not include air fare, arrival and departure transfers and city taxes, which must be paid directly to the hotels in euros.
