Here are upcoming new ocean and river cruise ships and their inaugural cruises.

2014

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Getaway (sister ship Norwegian Breakaway) will accommodate 4,028 passengers and sail in February 2014.

Avalon Waterways has two new European river boats to sail in March 2014 – Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises will have the 159-passenger SS Catherine sail in March 2014.

Viking River Cruises has many new ships, one of which is the Viking Hemming, set to sail in March 2014 with 106 passengers.

AmaWaterways has the AmaSonata coming out in April 2014 with 164 passengers.

American Queen Steamboat Company will launch the American Empress, a 223 passenger U.S. river boat, in April 2014.

Tauck River Cruising has announced its MS Inspire European river boat for April 2014.

Silversea Cruises will launch the Silversea Discoverer with 128 passengers in April 2014.

All-new Emerald Waterways plans the Emerald Star and Emerald Sky for April 15 2014, which will accommodate 182 passengers each.

Avalon Waterways will have the Avalon Illumination in May 2014, a European river boat.

Scent Tours introduces the Scenic Gem, accommodating 128 passengers, in May 2014.

Windstar Cruises will have the Star Pride, 212 passengers, in May 2014.

Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess (sister ship Royal Princess) will accommodate 3,560 passengers and sail in June 2014.

Tauck River Cruising announced a European river boat, the MS Savor, to sail in June 2014.

New small-ship cruise line Pearl Seas Cruises’ Pearl Mist will accommodate 210 passengers and sails June 25, 2014.

Costa Cruises’ Costa Diadema will accommodate 3,700 passengers and it is the largest Costa ship ever, sailing in October 2014.

AmaWaterways AmaReina, accommodating 164 passengers, will sail in fall 2014.

Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas will accommodate 4,180 passengers and is the first of a new class of ship for RCI, sailing in November 2014.

Viking River Cruises has the most new ships, most accommodating 190 passengers, to launch in spring 2014, named the Viking Torgil, Viking Alsvin, Viking Bestla, Viking Buri, Viking Delling, Viking Eistla, Viking Guilveig, Viking Heimdal, Viking Hermod, Viking Kvasir, Viking Idi, Viking Ingvi and Viking Lif.

2015

Royal Caribbean International’s Anthem of the Seas (sister ship Quantum of the Seas) will accommodate 4,180 passengers and sails in the spring of 2015.

Compagnie du Ponant has yet to name its upscale line’s new ship that will accommodate 264 passengers and will sail in spring 2015.

Viking Ocean Cruises’ Viking Star, its first ocean-going ship, will accommodate 928 passengers and will sail in May 2015.

Holland America Line has yet to announce the name of its new 2,660 passenger ship to sail fall 2015.

Norwegian Cruise Line has yet to name its new and larger version of Norwegian Breakaway that will sail in October 2015.

2016

Most of these 2016 and beyond ships are yet unnamed, but Holland America Line has its newest ship since 2010 that will accommodate 2,660 passengers, sailing in February 2016.

Royal Caribbean International has another Oasis class ship coming that will accommodate 5,400 passengers and will sail mid-year 2016.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is building a new luxurious Seven Seas Explorer (first since 2003) to accommodate 738 passengers that will sail in summer 2016.

Royal Caribbean has ordered another Quantum-class ship to sail in 2016.

Carnival is building the Carnival Vista to accommodate 4,000 passengers and sail in winter 2016.

Viking Ocean Cruises is planning a second ocean vessel for 928 passengers in 2016.

Blue Star Line has announced Titanic II to sail in 2016.

2017

Norwegian Cruise Line will have another in the Breakaway Plus series to accommodate 4,200 in spring 2017.
