Food a la Alabama

If after all that holiday dining, nibbling and snacking, you’re still thinking about food and eating, it’s appropriate to start thinking about Alabama.

Are you kidding? Alabama?

Well, why not? It’s cold up north and the kitchens in Alabama — the “Heart of Hospitality” — are warm and full of good stuff to eat. Comfort food they call it. See, Alabamans believe there’s a sweet connection between hearts and stomachs — those folks will just plain love you with food.



Truth is, food is an integral part of southern culture — sharing food from one’s kitchen is just another way to share kindness, generosity and the goodness of the Southern lifestyle. It's how they celebrate births and weddings, welcome people into their communities, and comfort their neighbors in times of loss. In fact, they seem to have an enduring and somewhat obsessive interest in food.
