Hotels and restaurants in the DC area celebrate the 2013 Presidential Inauguration
 
At the heart of the inaugural excitement, the following Washington, DC-area restaurants, and two presidentially-linked historic hotels, are rolling out specialty packages, bites and libations to toast and celebrate the quadrennial occasion throughout the weekend of Friday, January 18 through Monday, January 21, 2013.
 

Sitting atop land that was once deeded to Thomas Jefferson’s daughter, the Clifton Inn inCharlottesville, VA will be offering a special Inauguration Package, for those escaping the pomp and circumstance with rates vary from $165 to $440 per night [double occupancy.] Each guest will receive a complimentary Founding Fathers Cocktail Flight and a decanter of Thomas Jefferson’s favorite vino,Madeira, waiting in-room upon arrival. Additionally, guests can brush up on former presidents’ history with a pocket-sized copy of The Declaration of Independence with Short Biographies of Its Signers.

The Jefferson, DC, often considered the second most presidential quarters in the city being just steps away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is offering theInauguration Package for guests staying in this aptly-named hotel during the ceremonious weekend. With a minimum of a two-night stay, guests can enjoy the package at a starting rate of $1,185 per night, or extend their trip to three days beginning at $799 per night [double occupancy.] To sweeten the deal, guests may also opt to stay in the Martha Jefferson Suite starting at $6,000 per night, or theThomas Jefferson Presidential Suite, with a beeline view of the White House, starting at $8,500. Inauguration Package accommodations include on-call concierge assistance for last-minute arrangements; access to a Neiman Marcus satellite store for evening gowns or suits; breakfast for two in the Greenhouse; and daily take-home gifts. At the cozy lounge, Quill, guests can toast the four years to come with The Presidential. This robust dram is made with Bourbon, Apple Jack, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, Cinnamon, and Whiskey Bitters. Garnished with a Cinnamon Baked Apple Wheel, this drink is a perfect way to “spice up” this presidential occasion. 
 
The glass is half full at AcadianaCeibaDC Coast and District Commons, whose optimistically-named cocktail raises hope for a dazzling four more years. TheSparkling Second Term features Averell Damson Plum Gin, Leopold Brothers New York Apple Whiskey, House-made "Bitter Truth" Lemon Bitters and a splash of Cava. Served in a Champagne flute, this sweet sparkler is rimmed with Cinnamon and Sugarand garnished with a Lemon Twist.

 
With a main course and specialty drink that pay homage to our Commander-in-Chief and his place of birth, chef Robert Wiedmaier will be serving the Hawaiian Onaga “Obama” Snapper with Snap Pea Risotto and Ginger Sesame Pea Tendrils at his flagship DC restaurant Marcel’s, and pouring the Obama-tini Cocktail at Brasserie Beck in DC and Mussel Bar & Grille in Bethesda, MD. Served in a martini glass and garnished with a twist of lemon, the fruity, sapphire-hued cocktail is sure to rally your inner democratic spirit with Ketel One, Hypnotiq Passion Fruit Liqueur and a float of Blue Curaçao.
