Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rekindles Romance with a

Special Valentine’s Day Vow-Renewal Ceremony in Waikiki

On Feb 14, 2013, the 10,000th couple to renew their vows since the ceremony was first introduced in 2003 will be recognized with a special gift

WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, HAWAII – Lovebirds traveling to Waikiki this Valentine's Day have the chance to “hoi hou ke aloha,” or fall in love all over again, with a complimentary beachfront vow-renewal ceremony available exclusively to guests of Outrigger Reef on the Beach and Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. Couples staying at either property can make their Valentines' Day extra special with a unique Hawaiian ceremony along the shore fronting the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, surrounded by views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. The ceremony takes place on February 14, 2013, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m., a briefing at 7:45 a.m., and the celebration starting at 8 a.m. Participating couples must make reservations in advance and must be registered guests of either beachfront hotel.

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts is also nearing a milestone, with close to 10,000 couples to date who have chosen its Hawaiian vow-renewal ceremony to say, “I do” for a second time. With anticipation that the 10,000th couple will be part of this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts is celebrating the momentous occasion by giving the lucky couple a $100 gift card to Kani Ka Pila Grille and a complimentary four-night stay in an ocean view room on their next visit to either Outrigger Reef on the Beach or Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach.

“We want our guests to experience Valentine’s Day with all of the magic and romance that Hawaii and Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has to offer -- and our Hawaiian vow-renewal ceremony is the perfect way to do just that,” said Patsy Narimatsu, director of sales and marketing for Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and Outrigger Reef on the Beach.  “We are also thrilled that Valentine’s Day 2013 will bring us our 10,000 couple to participate in this beautiful ceremony. It’s going to be a wonderful celebration for everyone who participates and definitely an ‘Outrigger Experience’ that each couple will remember forever.”

The non-denominational Hawaiian ceremony is conducted by a Hawaiian officiant and opens with a traditional Hawaiian welcome chant. Couples are then treated to a graceful hula and serenaded with Hawaiian song before being blessed with a gentle sprinkling of sea water and an exchange of vows in the Hawaiian language. The ceremony concludes with a performance of the beautiful Hawaiian Wedding Song, accompanied by a hula. As a special memento of the Valentine’s Day celebration, after the ceremony is completed, couples may take a picture with the officiant and hula dancer and receive one complimentary photo. A commemorative certificate will also be presented to each couple to remember the day.

Hotel guests who wish to participate in the Valentines' Day ceremony must make advance reservations by calling the concierge desk at Outrigger Reef on the Beach at 808-923-3111 (long distance charges apply) or by emailing orf.concierge@outrigger.com. Reservations are being taken on a first come, first served basis.

Vow-renewal ceremonies are open exclusively to guests of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and the Outrigger Reef on the Beach year-round. The ceremonies take place at 7:45 a.m. every Monday and Thursday at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and every Tuesday and Friday at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. Couples must make an advance reservation at their respective hotel's concierge desk by 3 p.m. the day prior to the ceremony.
