The Mid-Atlantic Region Features a Variety of Unique Festivals to Enjoy in 2013

  

(U.S. Mid-Atlantic Region, December 20, 2012) An assortment of sights, sounds, tastes and new experiences can be found at festivals held throughout the Mid-Atlantic region each year.  With plenty of family-friendly fun scheduled for all seasons, attendance at one or more of these unique events is sure to guarantee the creation of memories that won't soon be forgotten. (For additional information on any of these specific events, please contact the state tourism office or CVB listed.)

Delaware

A Day in Old New Castle is reputed to be the nation's oldest, continuously held house and garden tour. On the third Saturday in May, many of the private homes and museums in this 350+-year-old town open their doors to the public. It's a fun filled day! Maryland

Crisfield invites the world to celebrate everything "crabby" at the National Hard Crab Derby and Fair each Labor Day weekend. Crab cooking contests, crab races and boat docking contests all bring a Chesapeake flavor to the event. Hosted by the Crisfield Chamber. Maryland Office of Tourism,  VisitMaryland.org.

 

On weekends from August through October, generations of fun loving history buffs let the merriment abound at the Maryland Renaissance Festival near Annapolis. Featuring five pubs, ten major stages, a jousting arena, food, fun, and fine crafts, the decades-old celebration is the second largest Renaissance Festival in the nation. Get out your teasing comb and Aqua Net, hon! Baltimore's annual celebration of all things "Bawlmer" takes place on Hampden's 36th Street and pays tribute to the neighborhoods, distinctive dialect and people of Baltimore.
