DC’s Dupont Circle Hotel Prepares the Final Chip Count
at Its Unofficial Voting Center

The politically charged guests of The Dupont Circle Hotel certainly did not forget to “Mock the Vote” this season. And it turns out, it’s not just a popularity contest, the margin of results is quite significant. On August 28th, The Dupont Circle Hotel began a make-shift voting booth for the presidential election by setting up two politically themed “Party Animals” in the hotel’s lobby. These symbols of the Democratic and Republican parties clad in colorful designs have infused the political vibe in the hotel, which has become theunofficial voting center for the 2012 Presidential election.

Over the past 2 months, guests of all political persuasions have been handed a red, white, or blue poker chip upon check- in, and cast their vote by “feeding the party animals” and throwing a patriotic betting chip into a clear container next to each animal. We have watched the levels rise and the preliminary results are in! As of Friday, November 2, 2012, the predicted winning party of the 2012 presidential election is…

The Democratic Party with 1,766 votes, nearly 1,000 votes over the Republican Party, with 800.

There is yet another, more nationalistic benefit for this festive political campaign. The Dupont Circle Hotel will literally feed the animals with a donation from the “Party Animals Campaign Fund,”totaling at least $2,500, to The Smithsonian National Zoo. The main campaign drive has come from $10 of each guest’s reservation who booked the hotel’s Let’s Get Political package.

With one weekend left, let the chips fall where they may, and check back to The Dupont Circle Hotel’s Facebook page at facebook.com/dupontcirclehotel on Monday, November 5, the eve of Election Day, for the final results.
